SMC Barricade Wireless Router Review

I use my laptop every day for work and for social things. I do not have a wireless modem and was restricted on where i can use my laptop because of this. I tried using the WI fi and tap into other people's internet. SHHHhh dont tell! Even though it worked a couple of times it did give me problems. My laptop would freeze or i wouldnt get on the internet. This would get frustrating especially if i was in my bedroom. I would have to get up and go to the living room where my modem is. My boyfriend would hear me complain about not having a wireless modem.  As good boyfriend he is, he bought me a wireless modem called SMC Barricade N Wireless Broadband Router.

This item is cute. It is white and has blue lights. The Barricade N 150Mbps Wireless Broadband Router (SMCWBR14S-N4) is the ideal all-in-one networking solution for connecting and sharing your high speed cable/xDSL internet connection. Created for the home, this particular operating system independent multi-functional router combines a 4-port 10/100 LAN switch, 150Mbps Wireless-N access point, NAT firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) and user friendly web-based management interface in one handy device.

The SMCWBR14S-N4 supplies greater overall performance compared to current 802.11g technology and is completely suitable with existing 802.11b/g products. It supports the latest WPA and WPA2 wireless encryption standards. It prevents unauthorized access to wireless networks and ensures data is secure. So other people can not tap into your network like i was doing before receiving this wireless modem lol. In addition, wireless security can be arranged effortlessly utilizing Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) which enables push button (PBC) or PIN configuration. The firewall with SPI offers protection from cyber-terrorist and refusal of service attacks by examining individual data packets, to make sure only authorized packets are allowed access to the network.

Those who are parents can use the Access Control feature can block certain websites, limit web access based on time or dates, and/or block internet access for applications like P2P utilities or games. Let’s face it. In this day of agekids play these R rated games and this is a good way to control this. I am extremely happy with my modem and dont have one thing bad to say. It's highly rated on Amazon.com where my boyfriend purchases it. I recommend everyone who doesnt have a wireless modem to purchase this one!!
